SlightEdge just promoted its first Assistant Manager since the pandemic! As most industries and companies experienced challenges and setbacks since 2020, so did our company and Karim was at the forefront experiencing it all. The systems we had established over a decade ago, the technology we worked with, and the clients we represented all needed to be adjusted and changed. But there is a saying that “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” -Socrates And that is just what our newly promoted Assistant Manager, Karim, did.

SlightEdge Management Team

Karim started in the company in the summer of 2019. He is a Temple alum, originally from Egypt, who majored in Electrical engineering and competed all over the world in Fencing. Having that competitive team experience, he soon realized being an engineer in a cubicle with barely any advancement opportunities was not for him. Once graduation came, he knew he needed to look outside of his field to build the life he wanted. One of his main focuses was somewhere his future was influenced by his work ethic, just like fencing had taught him. And that is how he found SlightEdge. Just like any new job, it takes a few months to get into the swing of things and just as he was getting into his groove, Covid hit.

We asked Karim what it was like working through the pandemic at SlightEdge.

“I believe that the pandemic made us stronger as a company and it was an eye opener that there are million and one ways to reach the results we wanted. Not only that, I learned that it is not just about sales, but it’s how the individual can develop personally and still manage to grow.”

Too often we hear a lot of people and companies have the victim mentality regarding the past few years instead of focusing on what they can control and focusing on how they can grow. Karim is a great example of making the most out of a challenging time. He helped spearhead a few campaigns since 2020 while the company was figuring out how to do things virtually and as a hybrid workforce. He helped implement new systems and was a big part of the growth & progress we’ve been able to have.

With his recent promotion, we asked him a few questions about his experience at SlightEdge.

What’s been your favorite experience working at SlightEdge?

“I earned a bonus with my coworker Shandria to go to the Sixers game which just happened to be on my birthday. We had 3rd-row seats right behind the bench and when Shandria yelled its my birthday, they gave us some shirts, posters and a bag….best birthday gift ever!!”

What’s your favorite part about working at SlightEdge?

“Definitely the people!!! Being from Egypt and living here without my family is sad sometimes and it can get lonely. My peers at SlightEdge made me feel like I have a second family here and I enjoy making memories with them.”

What are your next goals?

“I want to help continue developing others and opening the door the others to create their own future. Next year I will get promoted to management and help expand our client to a different state, have the financial freedom to retire my parents, and have a great life with my future family. And over time, I want to be a better golfer as well.”

We are excited to for what Karim has been able to accomplish so far at SlightEdge and even more excited about what he’ll be able to contribute to the management team. Not only does the company value Karim’s leadership, but the client does as well so we are excited to see what goals and targets we are able to hit as a company over the next few months.
