After 18 months of a hiatus of public company events, SlightEdge hosted a charity event on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. As we all experienced, the pandemic had us in lockdown mode and we needed to adapt to the virtual world. Of course, this brought on restrictions to some of the amazing things the company does for the community and the culture but we took it with stride, and now with health protocols in place, we felt like we were able to go back to doing what we always did, with some adjustments. And that led us to our charity event.

As our employee’s families are growing we wanted to support a local charity that connects us to that. Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia is an amazing organization that provides essentials to children of all ages from clothes to school supplies. Their mission is to “provide children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive — at home, at school, and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities”. And that is why we came together at the end of September.

Employees of SlightEdge, friends, and family came together and participated in the ‘Amazing Race Philadelphia’. With a participation fee, teams of 4–5 were given clues that took them all around the city to famous statues, landmarks, and historical spots. What was even more fun is we have people born and raised in Philadelphia to the midwest to other countries and they all got to see parts of the city they’d never seen. The event ended at Independence Beer Garden looking over the Liberty Bell and Independence National Historic Park. The group enjoyed food, drinks, and a winners ceremony where the winning team received first place ribbons and gift cards to Dunkin Donuts. After the day was over, we raised $300 while creating great memories with friends, family, and coworkers.
